A number of Barclays customers are experiencing issues with its digital banking services.
Account holders have taken to twitter to report error messages when logging in across the bank’s online and mobile facilities.
Many say they’re seeing ‘Error code 6’ at sign in – leaving them unable to view or manage their transactions, especially on desktop.
According to online outage tracker, Downdetector, the lender’s online services have been down since 12pm today.
The bank is now responding to customers online, and says it is experiencing ‘intermittent’ issues online at present.
It’s advising customers to clear their cache and cookies and make sure the registered time on their device is set at GMT.
A Barclays spokesman told Mirror Money: “We’re currently experiencing some technical problems – customers are still able to use Barclays Mobile Banking app to check their balance, make and receive payments. We’re on it, and as soon as it’s fixed we’ll let you know.”
If you’re struggling to get through, here are a few steps you can take in the meantime.
There might be a problem with your computer or connection, rather than Barclays online banking. So don’t give up straight away.
You can head here to ask a question about logging on to Barclays online banking at the Barclays help centre.
There’s also the status section of the Barclay’s website – that lets you know at a glance if there are problems the bank is aware of. You can also use it to see when things are resolves.
A quick way to check if it’s a bigger problem than just you is to head to the Barclays Help twitter page where they respond to customer’s questions.
If there’s a problem, you can bet they’ll be responding to customers. You could even ask questions yourself if you have a twitter account.
Try updating the app
If you can’t log on as normal, try Barclays online banking app – or even download it to your phone or tablet if you don’t already have it.
Make sure you have the latest version and if you still have problems try restarting your phone too.
Using the app gets round problems specific to the website, broadband or your computer.
The Barclays online banking app lets you pay bills, check balances, transfer money and more.
If you’re still having problems, pick up the phone, you can talk to an adviser Monday to Sunday 7am-11pm. Barclays’ general customer service number is 0345 7 345 345.
If you’re overseas the number is: +44 24 7684 2100
Head to a branch or cash machine
If all you need is something simple like a balance check, any cash machine should be able to display it on screen.
If that’s not enough, and they’re still open, you can head to a branch.
